The Advantages of Smoothing Perception Out to Perception

When you do that well, it's removing the frictions that the player may feel while playing the game. And what you want to do is to remove all these little frustrations that are not by design. So for a game like Monument Valley, when the challenge is all about perception, then it's all right to play with that and to put the challenge there. But when it's not the point of your game, you want to remove all the frustrations with people interacting with your menus or understanding your UI because you want to have free attention resources for where the challenge is for your game.
