The Importance of Progress in the West
The idea of progress becomes in place for the first time by the end of the eighteenth century. Empiricism has a profound political influence on anglo american politics and self- perceptions. It's probably the last empiricist estate in the west. The idea that society goes through certain stage s is an empirical idea which is very strongly present in british, what's called british wig history. But also very present, in a in american self self perceptions. And that idea always means that you have a right to intervene and to bring people up to your to your level.
