How to Read a Poem

i looked all over for in a learning to appreciate poetry, or, you know, what it takes, just for some advice. i came across this essay on poets dot org called how to read a poem. The author said that readers make three false assumptions when addressing an unfamiliar poem. One is that there's in any given poem, there's a code, and that if you can crack the code, youd get the whole poem. That's not true. The poem means what the author intended it to mean.
