The Importance of Separation in Autism
The capacity to separate between units of representation is crucial for our capacity to exist in a world that is not complete chaos. When we rely on these more initial levels of separation strength, we can create a division between us and the world. This is what we see many times in autism in the first years of autism. But then when one climbs this ladder of separation, one achieves access to a more rich world,. One opens up, finally opening up to the social bond. The work in the clinic would be to create, to gain access to higher levels of separation in order to enrich the world of the subject.
