The Labyrinth
In the mediaeval days, a lot of churches began to build labyrinths. The most famous one in europe is probably sharp cur just outside of paris. They would have used it for prayer and for contemplation. And then when things got more puritan whell you can't dance and worship,. So it then became a place of penance as well. People would walk it on their knees, or if you walked it a prescribed amount time, it was like walking to jerusalem to do your pilgrimage. But some of the earliest ones in this country are down in cornwall.
