When the penitentiary first opened, there was just really like thieves and like petty crimes. If you talked when you weren't supposed to, or if you hummed a little jaunty tune, 'there were allegedly different punishments that you would suffer' Allegedly. They started with like limiting exercise, so you wouldn't get your fresh air for the day. There were cells that were specifically used for punishment. And they were in block four on the ground level.
