The US Can Run a Trade Deficit
A trade deficit means that you as a country are consuming more than you're producing. It's almost like kind of being able to live a better lifestyle than your wage justifies, is that fair enough? In the 1980s they were using this spending power to build up probably one of the greatest post-war militaries in the world. They stopped producing stuff, the symbol of the early 90s was kind of a Sony Walkman, it was produced in Japan. The US switched to what you are talking about, which is just purely living beyond their means.
