Herodotus and the Real Bardia

The story of how Darius went from being an assassin to the king involves a horse. Herodotus says that if you don't believe cambises killed his brother, then this whole structure collapses like a house of cards. So it all becomes a little bit weird how darius ends up at the throne and no wonder he feels a need to explain it.
