The Hubble Space Telescope
In two thousand four announced that hubble was not going to receive its last servicing mission. There were a couple of things wrong with it. Its batteries were running down, some of its instruments were failing. And so people took it upon themselves to save this mission. They sent a servicing mission in two thousand nine and fixed hubble. We're still getting images back from hubble to this day.
