The One Mighty and Strong in Mormonism

WW Phelps's article, Free People of Color, which led to the riot and destruction of the Mormon press, was apparently a bluff that backfired. The Mormons wanted independence Missouri and Jackson County to themselves and they wanted all the Gentiles to get out. And by the way, that is the context for the famous and somewhat misused revelation that contains the phrase one mighty and strong. That expression has been used ever since to identify the latest Messiah of the month in Mormonism.
