People fear that if a member of their social group, it becomes very successful, then they're going to leave them because they'll be like too good for them. People are scared to figure out how fast or to what degree their friends are growing, progressing or learning and then finding others. So when I think about making friendships or hiring people or recruiting or anything like that, I think about who is growing at a similar pace to me and to our team and everything. It does really pay to potentially have two quite different classes of friends where you've got both academics and non-academics in your circle.
