The Importance of Social Circles in Plato's Symposium

There would be guest lists, but it wasn't necessarily like Alsabiety's always hosted the parties or anything like that. If people had brought wives or girlfriends, they would either leave or go have their own parties. But as with so many things about women in the ancient world, we just don't have a lot of evidence for these women drinking parties. So I tend to think that they probably were having them.
