DoJ Can Tell the Jury About Previous Trump Convictions?
Trump's conviction in NYC could affect the length of his sentence if convicted in Georgia or by DOJ. If someone has prior convictions, depending on how serious the convictions were, they do enter into the calculus with respect to what the sentence should be. In certain circumstances, a defendant takes the stand and limits circumstances, that person can be cross-examined about prior crimes but otherwise, in the government's affirmative case, they are not allowed to talk about prior convictions. That's prejudicial and not probative.
