I'm in the Corner, You're in the Other Room

Hughes wrote novels and short stories along with the essays we have been referring to and quoting. He was very successful in his time but had a troubled personal life. Was full of relationships that fell apart, seeming need to pull people close and then drive them away. It's a topic we explored with zora evell taylor in our episode on hughes and zornil hurley. They started writing a book about the pair of them and then had a falling out. I think that falling out probably hurts more than it hurt Langston Hughes. We saw the reverence everyone else wanted for him in our show on lorraine hansbury.
