I think the question that i always look at, is there an arbitrary or coercive concentration of power? And government does use monopolists in arbitrary and coercive ways. Sometimes it's to go after the dominant firm itself - which as its a bunch of publicly chartered corporations have all merged rights. The question really shouldn't be whether public or private: Are we a free people? Is there coercion happening through our is or through other mechanisms? And if there is, how do we stop that coercion? How do we maintain ourselves as a freePeople? So that's how i think about it.
