Plato's Trying to Synthesize to Incompatible Thought Currents
Plato is trying to synthesize two seemingly incompatible thought currents. He's doing something like what we do with stereoscopic vision, and we get a dimension and depth. Plato is never interested in ontology for Ontologys sake. But i want to know these truths only in a way that affords and inspires me to aspire to self transcendence in very powerful ways. The epitome of this is the cave analogy.
