The Importance of a Degree in Computer Science
In his senior year of high school, Dave Thompson applied to work at the NCSA super computer center. He got a part time job making five or six bucks an hour and what was called the software development group. "I learned how to do some Munich stuff," he recalls being asked about Unix command line skills. The interview with SMAR from 1999 is infamous among Netscape founders because it suggested that Dave Thompson was the one who discovered the worldwide web when he wasn't.
