Sometimes it's not enough just to have SSL locally. Sometimes you have to open up your application to the outside world so that other people or other things can actually access it. Here's a couple examples I've run into. Apple Pay now works on any browser on iOS. It previously only worked in Safari on iOS and as of three or four months ago now it works in all browsers.
