Kant and Kantian Ethics

Emmanuel Kant writing in the 18th century had a very different approach to ethics and presumably to justice too. He rejects the utilitarian idea that morality is a matter of maximizing happiness but for that matter, seeking after any particular set of consequences. For Kant morality means respecting persons as ends in themselves not treating persons only as means.
