The Importance of Carrying an Optic on Your Gun
If you are not carrying a handgun with an optic on it, you need to consider that nobody is training iron sights only on a rifle and that pistol optics are the way to go. The dot just allows you to be much more precise in what you're looking at. It's really important for law enforcement. If you have the opportunity or the option under your department rules to carry a red dot on your pistol, I am a huge advocate of it. So do that. Upgrade your life.
