Some researchers looked at telling girls that doing something in particular was an example of being a scientist or doing science. And they actually found that doing science for young girls is actually more motivating than being a scientist. But we need to be incredibly careful with the power of identity language, she says. It can easily be misused and even accidentally lead to outcomes that we're trying to avoid.
