How to Teach Prefixes
Many prefixes have more than one meaning and we want to make sure that students know all possible meanings for words. For example, the prefix un means not, but it also means opposite of. Another thing we want to teach our students is to pay attention for lookalike prefixes or impostors. We don't want them to get in the habit of just looking for the letters at the beginning of the word and assuming that those letters always have the meaning of the prefix.
