Beliefs That Aren't Justified

The point of this example is to consider all the wonderful, different ways that we could be wrong about something at any point in time. And just how much scrutiny it takes to have an actual, justified, true belief in something. Let's say you're a commoner in the 14 hundreds in europe, and you're listening to a story that some swash buckling se faring gentleman is telling about one time he was out on the ocean. Why would he lie about something like that? You believe that the earth is flat.
