In 211, Marcus Liven is successfully managed to broker an alliance between the Republic and another power in Greece, the Etoleian League. According to the terms of the treaty, both parties were to conduct operations against the Macedonians from Eitolia to Corcyro. Rome was to be given the plunder, while the Eitolians could retain any land or cities that they captured. The Senate's unwillingness to try and claim any territory argues against the notion of eastward-minded expansionism.
