The pythotrial was a large multi-center RCT, and it randomized intermediate risk or submassive PE patients with both RV dysfunction and biomarker positivity to heparin versus tenectiplase plus heparin. The long-term outcomes did not show any difference in the incidence of RV dysfunction or CTEF many years after the initial diagnosis of a QPE. Three RCTs have been just announced this year.
