The Early Years of the Monastic Community
The monastery in effect was a school both for the common kinds of medieval Latin training and medieval education. And it was also an educational center for learning life that is to say many of the values that young students would acquire, such as the concept of hierarchies. So one of the most crucial aspects of the learning of child oblades was learning to sing whether in a choir of oblades or whether blended into the adult choir.
