The Importance of Human Engineering in Coronaviruses
Bobby Jindal: The COVID-19 virus was 96.2% identical to another virus that they had from China. And the entire difference, the entire 3.8% difference was accounted by that furin cleave site and the spike protein. That feature did not exist in previous coronaviruses of this family,. It did exist elsewhere, it existed in some MERS viruses, etc., other types of coronavirus. You could theoretically evolve that feature through mutations. However, 100% of the mutations in coronavirus are on that cleave site and on that spike protein.
