What Did Early Christianity Do With Women Who Were Movers and Shakers?
The Roman world was not egalitarian or feminist, but it wasn't flatly patriarchal in the ways that you described earlier. So what else was at play in the Roman world where the early church took root that would have shaped women's lives in that time? The Roman Empire wanted prestige, which is usually a smaller organization thing, but they also wanted expansion. They wanted to be Walmart and the high end boutique at the same time.
