Is There a Plurality of Reasoning Strategies in Evidence Based Medicine?

We ought to be appealing to such a plurality of reasoning strategies when we're making an inference about effectiveness of interventions. There's a funny example in the medical literature to illustrate this. The idea nobody was nobody believed that retroactive intercessory prayer worked because of the results of this trial.
