The Importance of Investigative Journalism

She left Pittsburgh for New York in 1887. She talked her way into the offices of Joseph Pulitzer, whose newspaper New York World was like a huge newspaper. At first she wrote about women's themes but then wanted to do investigative journalism. "I don't want to write these stupid stories about gardens and shit," she says.
