The Importance of Nadging People Back to Intermediate Goals
There's a strong tendency to confuse intermediate goals with long-term goals. You can't just directly aim towards the thing you're trying to do, right? So what I find often happens with people I work with is that there's this slight drift where they start taking their intermediate goals too seriously. We get wrapped up in our intermediate goals like, "Oh, I've got to take this pre-med class so I can then apply to med school" It's something about I think self image and about not wanting to feel to yourself, you're someone who doesn't stick with things and is like a hard worker.
