Early English - The Hard G Sound Shifted to a W Sound in Middle English

The sound of English was becoming softer and smoother. Some would say it was becoming lazier because if you've had a lot to drink, you tend to make some of these same sound changes. People are always looking for an easier way to say or do something. In other words, you might end up speaking like an Anglo-Saxon.
