How Homocysteine Can Contribute to Disease Risk

The main connection to coronary artery disease is that homocysteine levels will drive the hardening of arteries. It can also be toxic to our neurons and other cells, so we attribute it to driving Alzheimer's disease, cognitive decline, and then even more large scale neurological diseases such as Parkinson's and multiple sclerosis. In fact, we've seen homocy Steine levels at 14 or higher, which is just at that moderately elevated risk factor actually increases Alzheimer disease risk by two parts.
