The Cost of People in a Movie
Sally Bowles was based on an actress named Jean Ross, who wound up becoming a film critic. She had been in a movie by this point but did not get that much success. The Sally Bowles character becomes worse with each version of it because I think it makes her desperate to make her story better. At the end of the play, the most happy song and under the backdrop of the cabaret is "I Will Always Love You"
