The Importance of Cars in Post-War America
The timing wasn't awful. It was a little bit, let's just say, opportunistic. But it was kind of peacetime. We weren't seeing US soldiers in the streets as often. And they knew that military aside, post-war America was also obsessed with cars. In 1950, there were 25 million registered cars in the USJust eight years later in 1958, that number more than doubled. Literally everyone wanted a Cadillac, even if it wasn't the real Cadillac.
