Dostoevsky's Anti-Liberal Line of Attack
Dostoevsky doesn't want there to be no reason for a crime, even if you're not going to do it. He's more afraid that the meaning is going to drop out of all of our actions in life than specifically that people are going to start going on killing sprees because they can't control themselves. The prince seems sort of like the quintessential liberal and his attitude towards Nastasi and Regosian. And he stands watch of the body of Nastasi at the end withregosian. It's sort of he's accepting of these types of people.
