The Future of Gaming Public Domain Laws
Jared Meyer writes and says hello with two people who are very much into games history and preservation. He suggests that once a game has stopped being produced a sort of timer would kick in after 10 to 20 years all the games in that console would essentially be public domain and free to download his ROMs without any legal ramifications. Jared: "A law like this would ensure that developers and publishers can realistically get every bit of money out of their product but then ensure that the game is accessible for players for years to come"
