How Does the Research Funding System Work?

Research funding, i don't know the higher levels of it worked, but it was directed towards individual senior researchers. And they dispersed the funds and chose their own e graduate students and posttoks to do the research that they thought was important. Now that doesn't seem to exist any more. It's the scientific department that has its priorities, and which tells the fessors what to do. We had some ridiculous situations a couple of years ago where we wanted to hire em. There is ta.
