"I remember kind of getting excited for that cold weather and then realizing that it wasn't helpful," Elle says. "By the third, by the third day, I think we saw the last new bowl of significance." The temperature was always at least negative 10 in the mornings, cold mornings with shin-deep snow on the ground. It's not clear what happened to grizzly bears but they don't seem to have gone into hibernation.
