The Difference Between Freemasonry and Catholicism
In the english speaking world, it was commonly ex ted that lodges should keep minutes of their meetings and initiations. Not all lodges did this, you know, some were just too disorganized, didn't have the resources. So there's really quite a lot that you can say about freemasonry in britain and the british empire because of the abundance of records. It's very different in continental europe, and especially in the catholic countries, freemasonry was illegal. You had to have a certain degree of ruzpa to actually write down where and when you were holding meetings and who was attending. And those have been preserved and give us good information
