The Role of an Independent Commission in Debt Reform
Congress should set up an independent commission staffed with outside experts picked by both parties that put together a reform proposal, he says. Debt is at almost 100% of GDP, which is everything the economy produces and goods and services in a given year,. It's too high that is dragging down growth now. But I don't think politicians like you pointed out will tackle these problems by themselves responsibly. So they need to be insulated from the political risk.
