The Future of Artificial General Intelligence

The people leading these companies have been thinking about this problem for a long time. Shane Leg, who runs DeepMind's AI alignment efforts, has made many sophisticated predictions over the years around what it would exactly take in terms of computing resource and data before you would actually get a super intelligent machine that was kind of an artificial general intelligence. And now I think everybody is starting to sort of say, actually, we might be closer than we realized. We should start taking it seriously the possibility that we might be very close.
