The History of Ice Beverages
In the early 1800s, Frederick Tudor cut up ponds and lakes in Massachusetts. He put it on ships and sold it to hot climates such as Cuba and India. To transport that ice, a special cargo hold for ships was developed. Even to this day, ice is more common in American drinks than in many other places.
