The Cost of Breast Cancer
One in 10 and one in 20 cases of breast cancer are related to gene mutations. It might be a brachygene, but there are other ones, TP53, PTEN. In some particular ethnic groups, that rate is a lot higher. For example, in the Ashkenazi Jewish population who come from Eastern Europe, the Brachygene mutation rate is about one in 40 people. Whether or not you should screen everybody is actually being researched right now.
