What a 'Wake-Up Call'

Is it possible that the West had enough of a wake-up call to stop eating itself out from within, to pull itself together? I note some things that are quite astounding to me. The sudden snap into reality by the Germans who are now saying we must step up. We can't defend ourselves. That's effectively what they're saying. But all over Europe you're saying a recognition that NATO must step up and China remains the main game.
