The book is about rethinking stigma as power. The more I have looked back historically at the stigmas and our treatments and the institutionalisation, you start to realize that really the biggest influence on mental health are the social forces that's around it. But for me, like in terms of inequalities, whether it's kind of racism or class or disability, they're changing historically all the time. If we start to think about them in relation to questions of stigma and power, we can see that they've very often been invented for a purpose. And then we kind of arrive in the world, don't we?
