The Nature of Innovation

Inventions tend to come when their time has come. There's a reason the cal s was invented by libnitz and newton at the same time. Inventors are not always even first, they just haven't gone to the patent office yet. So if you give someone a monopoly, just they happen to come up with it first? Well, then there needs to be three % less of what else? What is the other thing that you have somehow decided is not as urgently necessary as you think this particular innovation is? Some people may find one or two things much more important than others.
