The Rise of Ramazam Kedirov in Chechnya
Ramazam Kedirov has been in power for a very long time. He's denied all those allegations despite overwhelming evidence. One of the main stories involving him was a massive crackdown on gay people in Chechnya in 2017 when at least two people were killed and 100 were tortured simply for being gay or on suspicion of being gay. Zilem Han Bakhayov is actually a pop star, originally Chechen, but he mostly lived in Moscow around the time. His relatives went to police, made public appeals and the expectation was that he was disappeared and killed.
