CHAPTER

The Importance of Environment in a VC Fund

It's definitely much higher fixed and legal costs to start a VC fund or financial business in that space. I went to taught a class in Germany and the students were quite lethargic, quite apathetic on many controversial topics. But then I finally actually gave a lecture where they were raising their hands and they were very animated. It was night and day. Can you figure out what topic would get German graduate students very agitated? Well, that's a yes, the environment.

Speaker 2
Yeah, although not based in Europe, right? So I thought this based in the United States, probably maybe the
Speaker 1
e part is worse, actually. Yeah. Right. Like the people
Speaker 2
more regulated. So it's definitely much higher fixed and legal costs to start a VC fund or financial business in that space. So actually that's still better in the United States compared to other places.
Speaker 1
I mean, like, like, like, what would I been in Germany specifically? I mean, actually, I went to taught a class in Germany and the students were quite lethargic, quite apathetic on many controversial topics. But then I finally actually gave a lecture where they were raising their hands and they were very animated. It was night and day. Can you figure out what topic would it be that would get German graduate students very agitated?
Speaker 2
But who felt? Well, that's a
Speaker 1
yes, the environment. I mean, when I was saying, look, what difference does it make if you if you ruin a million acres of Alaska? Well, like, there's almost a million square miles of Alaska. No, I know what'll ever see it. Whatever it is is a make. And they're like, yeah, I haven't
Speaker 2
spent that much or like where I studied in Germany or what I did was a bit off that. It's been,
Speaker 1
you know, about all of the bizarre, separate your trash rules in Germany. Yeah, I know. Even if I wanted to comply, I'm just like, this is like one of the hardest I'd huge tests that they can hear. What about plastic with food particles on it? Where does that go?
Speaker 2
Yeah, yeah.
