The New Yorker: Fiction

CHAPTER

Nicola's Relationship With Tom Shepherd

There is constant non chronological movement in the story. There are definitely places where I had to read this multiple times. Janet does want to connect even though she can't quite connect with her father or her daughters and her instinct is to call an ex lover. Randomly out of the blue and be annoyed when she gets answering machine. It's disappointing but also sort of safely predictable.
